  • IRAN, MOVIE PRODUCERS PLEDGE SUPPORT AS PREPARATIONS FOR 2025 ZUMA INTERNATIONAL FILM FESTIVAL GATHER MOMENTUM

As preparations to host Zuma International Film Festival gather momentum, Dr. Ali Nuhu, NFC’s Managing Director/Chief Executive, has held separate strategic partnership meetings with the Cultural Attaché, Embassy of Iran in Abuja – Nigeria Mr. Jafari Seyed Reza, and the Association of Movie Producers (AMP) – Abuja Chapter, led by its Chairman Mr. Desmond Utomwen.

Discussions at both meetings also centred on the need to forge partnerships, inspire creativity, create opportunities for filmmakers to leverage and grow the film industry.

Nigeria and Iran share common creative economic and growth indices; with unlimited investment opportunities and large audiences for the cinema. The emplacement of an Audio-visual Cooperation Agreement between both nations, to create the pathway for a seamless and formalised intercountry film stakeholder relationship and engagements were also discussed, with Mr. Reza, assuring that a robust attendance of Iranian filmmakers in the December 1-5, 2025 Zuma International Film Festival should be expected.

At the meeting with the Iranian Cultural Attaché, Dr. Nuhu spoke extensively on the incredible opportunities Zuma International Film Festival platform offers to its participants. The yearly filmfest, he said has continued to attract a large number of film entries including participation of filmmakers from beyond the shores of Nigeria, including Iran.

Meanwhile, training, skills development, capacity building opportunities, domestic and offshore co-production facilitation for its members dominated discussions between the NFC and AMP. Dr. Nuhu acknowledged the contributions of AMP to the growth of Nigeria’s film industry, and assured of the unwavering implementation of the policy of inclusivity in all NFC powered activities and programmes for all Nigerian filmmakers, including Zuma International Film Festival, 2025.

The Embassy of Iran, the Association of Movie Producers (AMP) and the Directors Guild of Nigeria (DGN), recently joined several others in pledging their participatory support towards the successful hosting of Zuma International Film Festival, 2025.
